Privacy Policy

Effective September 16, 2026

What we collect

  • Account email and profile fields you choose to save.
  • Places, observations, and trip data you create or submit.
  • Payment metadata from Stripe when a purchase is enabled. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Sign-in identifiers from the providers you use (Google, GitHub, Discord, or Facebook), limited to what that provider sends for authentication.

Where it lives

When accounts are enabled, data is stored in a hosted PostgreSQL project (Supabase). The application server does not keep a copy of that database. Without those keys, Boonanza runs in demo mode and stores data only in your browser’s localStorage.

Analytics

If analytics are turned on, they use a privacy-conscious tool such as PostHog. That is optional and not required to use the console.

During the beta your account notes which days you opened Boonanza (the day only — not what you did, where you were or for how long), so we can tell whether people come back after their first weeks. It is kept with your account and removed with it.

Sharing

We do not sell personal identity. Contributor field data is licensed only if you opt in to the Data Pool, and only as described on the Data Pool page. Service providers (hosting, authentication, payments) process data solely to run Boonanza.

Your choices

You can sign out, stay in demo mode, and opt out of the Data Pool at any time. To ask about account data, use the email on your Boonanza account or the address you used on the waitlist.

Terms

Use of the service is also covered by the Terms of Service.
